Are your batteries in trays or direct mounted to the floor? If in trays, check to make sure there are drain holes and that they're clear. A picture of your batteries would help.

Since it runs fine on starboard side I'd be inspecting the port plug and all connections closely. I know what you mean about minimizing time in the smoke.

If connected to GPS a DSC capable VHF will display your coordinates to anyone with a DSC capable VHF radio. Thanks for the feedback guys. I'll be limited to my left eye for 4 or 5hrs after surgery tomorrow so figured, if I'm up to it, I can search for the miscellaneous parts to complete install. ;)

Just finished putting the boat in the barn, but don't think I'll have time to do anything before the weekend.

Before I order hoses and vents, do the defroster vents rotate or are they fixed position?
