Bottom Painting - aluminum specialist

Unread post by Chaps »

Hi all, Agate Pass Marine is a bottom painting shop for trailerable boats and we prep and paint lots of aluminum craft.
Our process on aluminum hulls includes sandblasting the bottom which is the only way to ensure proper adhesion of primers & anti-foul paint.
We are inconveniently located on Bainbridge Island :D but we'll make it worth your time to get your boat to us for a properly done bottom job.

I'll periodically be adding a few pics of Hewescrafts we have recently bottom painted, click on photo's for larger views

Our latest, a new 240 Pacific Explorer that will be in a saltwater slip year-round

A 210 Sea Runner was sandblasted, received three coats of barrier coat epoxy and a custom mixed gray non-copper bottom paint.

Thanks Frank, that is a strontium chromate epoxy similar to alumaprotect but from another paint manufacturer. The anti-foul is a new non-copper product from Flexdel. It is an acrylic ablative so it's harder and tougher than an old style ablative but it can be pulled out seasonally and it will retain its effectiveness when relaunched.
