Thanks Phil. I appreciate it.

I get a great kick out of watching the students build projects such as these. Seeing them work together as a team, from blueprints to cutting, to jigging and finally to welding. Watching them develop their skill set and preparing them to enter the trades is wonderful. I did it a long time ago and I really appreciated myself having awesome instructors. The wheel has come full circle and now I pass on to them what have learned myself from working in the trades.

Got around to installing roof rack the other day.
Thought I would share a couple photos.
I can’t thank Eoin and the students enough, turned out awesome. Fit and finish was outstanding.
Thanks again Eoin!

I never thought I'd say this to another guy....... but....... "Nice rack!!" I'm REALLY interested in the clamps you are using.... Can you give me some info on those. I used U-bolts and really don't like the way they look compared to yours.. Thanks in advance Jamey!

Glad to be of help to Jamey and Hunter for their projects. I'll share these photos with the students when we return to class next week.

Thanks again everyone. We're always looking for projects like these to help with training and also help fellow Hewes owners with their projects.

Hunter,
I used 1 3/8 roll bar accessory mounts. They have to be cut down about 5/16 in order to clamp the 1 1/8-1 1/4 diameter of rack to boat rails. I used a vise and portable band. Also picked up 1/4x28x3/4 SS Allen heads and collar washers from Tacoma screw to clamp them up.

Thanks for the info Jamey......

Gotta ask.... is there a reason that you chose the 1 3/8 mounts rather than the 1.25's?

I measured the base diameter and it was a hair under 1 3/8”. I was worried the clamp bolts may not have a enough width to go over the base. In hind site it may have been easier to massage the base to fit the boat rail a bit and possibly not have to modify clamp.

Looks great . I pick up my OP 220 hopefully this Friday . I noticed you roof basket when I checked on our old boat at the marina. Very nice fit for sure and really adds to the boat.
