9.9 Kicker on a Pro V ET

Unread post by Lox of Luck »

Ok I got my electric trolling motor mounted up front but now I'm thinking of adding a kicker at the back. Looking at the Suzuki 9.9 because its full injected. I want to have the tiller handle, electric start and power trim and connect it to the main motor with a bar. I do not want the controls up front at the wheel so I am willing to reach out and start it and also adjust the gas on the tiller. Wondering if anybody has any photos of rigging and what about the fuel line ?
Any help or input would be great.

Have a simple tie bar between my main and kicker that looks like this one.

Not the best pic, but you can see the tie bar attachment points on both engines...

Your ProV is quite a bit newer than ours so don't know if the location has changed, but if your ProV is pre-rigged for a kicker, there should be an elbow on the port side gunwale treadplate panel or somewhere similar...

It was pre-rigged and plumbed from the factory except for the hose from the elbow to kicker. Look at the aft end your fuel tank and see if you have two small fittings exiting the tank, if yes, your tank is rigged for a kicker.

Thank you Ryan. To be fair, the boat was only 2yrs old when that picture was taken, but, I still take good care of it and looks great at 11yrs old...

Thank you for the photos. I am going to look on my next day off. I thought I read that the 2nd fuel line was ready to go on the 2018 Pro v?

My 1996 SeaRunner was not plumbed for a kicker, but when I installed the spin on fuel filter/water separator years ago I plumbed it in. The water separator has 2 outlets on the top and it was very easy to plumb the second outlet to the kicker motor. Remove the brass plug, install the screw in brass hose barb, run a hose over to the transom, install a brass pass through in the transom with another hose barb on the outside and run another hose with your motors fuel attachment end over to the kicker motor. I hardly ever use the kicker and most of the time it sits on my little 12' trout lake boat, but it is really easy to move to the SeaRunner, clamp it on, plug in the fuel line and go.

The additional fuel pickup is still listed as an available option on Hewescraft's website. I think many of the bigger dealers order boats with the most desired options (just like cars and trucks) since they are a commonly requested item. The second fuel pickup may exist at the tank, a quick look and you'll know for sure. ;)
