Annual maintenance.

Unread post by Beeman »

So while the boat is getting its warranty work I told them to go ahead and do the annual service on the motors. Got about 120 hrs on main and less than 50 on the kicker.
I was thinking it would just be oil changes but at $851 they must have done more than that.
Not seen the detailed invoice yet but he did say 5 hrs @ $125 ph and about $160 for parts.
Just another reason to do all my own service work.

That seems a bit high, had my main, Yamaha 200 and 9.9 kicker done 100hr service, fuel filters changed, line filter changed, wheel hubs inspected, basically a once over on the whole boat 650.00with tax.

That sounds about right Gerrill. Was that at a local dealer?

Think I paid 80$ for the 200 oil change kit. Came with almost enough oil for the kicker. Yamalube. Took a little research to find the crush washer for the kicker. (Anybody find a better solution to the 5$ one time use crush washer?) Didn’t do fuel filters but replacing all of them looks to be north of 100$. 1/2 gallon of gear lube and associated one time use washers another 30$. Couple shots of grease. Looks like you made out pretty good on parts. 2 hours tops had I done the fuel filters. I’m curious to see the invoice. I wonder what I missed.

That’s about what the dealers charge in my area. I went on google and found a couple of businesses selling a 100 mai ten era kit for Yamaha OB. I just go that route now.

Plus I know it was done correctly, and with all Yamaha fluids.....

You know it, our buddies at Westside Marine. Haul my boat to Port Townsend just because of their services.

Made an appointment, dropped it off in the morning they had it done that afternoon.

Yeah they're awesome. They work on lots of Hewescrafts in the area and further beyond. People come to them because they are just so easy to deal with and extremely reasonable with their prices and Mark is an excellent Yamaha mechanic.
