Cockpit Display

Unread post by SeaDawg » Sun Nov 03, 2019 4:47 pm

Looking for the least expensive auxiliary cockpit display to connect to my 7610xsv. I currently have an IPAD in a waterproof case, but the glare is really bad and keeping charged is a pain. It works, but I'd really like a more robust waterproof marine unit that will display better in sunlight. Basically looking for a better more permanent solution. I know I could buy another 7610 but that is expensive. I don't necessarily need control of the aux unit. Just a display that will mirror what is on my main 7610xsv. Thanks

It’s a little early and not sure I understand completely if you want everything your 7610 will do, but I am seriously considering the EchoMAP due to the removability feature that would allow me to pull it out of the holder and lock it in the cabin as easy as an IPad. Have it mounted above the rear helm and pop in and out of its cradle as needed.

I have a 7612xsv at the helm and a Echomap 94sv at the rear helm. I also added an additional transducer with the 94sv. I really like the 94sv non touch screen while out on the deck fishing. And as Jeremy said, it's neat because it easily pops out of it's docking station for storage.

Why did you go with a north river?

We had a 200 Pro-V for 3 years and decided it was time for something bigger. We found ourselves mostly fishing out in the sound. We almost upgraded to an Alaskan 240, but the morning we were going to go up to TnJ's to look at it they said it sold. We sat back and really thought about what was important to us in a new boat, and we really like the idea of a cuddy cabin style boat. I've never been too thrilled about the Pacific Explorer/Cruiser models that they have, and I've never been very impressed with TnJ's over the years.

So we started looking at different manufactures, we really liked the build quality of the NR. Not to mention the dealer is 5 minutes from our house.

This boat is perfect for us, fits in our shop with about 4 inches to spare on each end, rides good, large fishing deck.

What I don't like, is the livewell design is not even half as good as Hewes.

Thanks for the reply Carl. I was just curious why. Makes sense. I spent the last year scouring the net looking at different boats. Hewes factory is a lil over an hour from the house. So I was kinda prejudiced about it. Them nr looked like a pretty good boat. My wife would have really liked the cuddy and enclosed head but the explorer/cruiser is just a lil too much for an inlander like me. If we lived at the ocean.... I looked at NWMS and Kyle was super helpful. Dustin too. I ended up buying at tnjs because they were cheaper. Like you said, I wasn’t impressed. Idk if NWMS would have been better but it might have been worth the extra $. Anyway, thanks for the info. Always good to get other opinions. Nate.

I actually bought my Pro-V from Kyle, he was great. My friend in the Tri-Cities bought his 21ft Northwest Boat from Kyle as well. I did notice that I don't think NWMS rigs a boat quite the same, ie for salt applications, as TnJ's would. All in all, I was happy with NWMS.
