Westport Jetty in my Boat

Unread post by Flyrod »

Looking for input.
I am fairly to being a boat owner. About one and a half years.
I have a Hewescraft Sportsman 160 with a Yamaha 75 hp 4 stroke and a 8 horse kicker and would like to fish close to Westport. I have no desire to cross the bar, but am wondering if I have enough boat to fish by the jetty for bottom fish. Any and all suggestions are welcome.
Thanks in advance!

I would compare fishing inside the jetty to something like fishing PA area if you have done Freshwater Bay or Ediz hook? It can get a little lumpy. It is the wind that will make it rough. Pick the right day and go for it.

Thanks For the response Crunchy. From what I’ve heard, keep the engine running and one person’s job is to keep the boat off the rocks while the other one fishes.
Really appreciate it!
