Blue Lingcod

Unread post by Jim Dandy »

We catch these blue ones every now and then, they tend to be small to medium size females, and is related to their diet. This was the runt of the dw litter on Sat, fell to a tuna belly strip from Fri's tuna load which was still iced down in the 3 120qt coolers on the boat luckily...(cuss someone left the bait cooler and black label herring and squid in the tow rig... ).

The meat from these blue lingcod also has a blue hue to it, still taste the same.

That was the little ling, but she was pretty so she got a pic...lol.

I was able to get out for tuna on Fri Ted, 24hr forecast cleaned up a bit so I talked myself into it.

Great trip, plugged the boat before noon, I'll PM you tomorrow and fill you in.

We catch shrimp with the same hue on their bellies occasionally, usually only one in a bunch of a hundred or more, and not very often. Never have heard a great explanation for what causes it.

Nice cod!
