Octane boosters? F200XB & 9.9HT

Unread post by Nate »

Read a thread the other day. Wasn’t really resolved. One suggested Torco, however it wasn’t available over the counter and sounded expensive. Sounds like my 200 is really just a 175. In Keller there is gas and diesel. I think I bought 89 once or twice in my lifetime, not really sure why. Can’t imagine 89 being “fresh” anywhere around here. So I was curious what others with the F200XB & 9.9HT were doing. Separate tanks? Octane booster that works? Just running 91 in all of it? Mixing 87&91? Ran a search and came up with one hit from 2016. Only got 20 pages left to go in boats so maybe I haven’t got there and if it’s been discussed, disregard this. Thanks.

Hey Nate..... I'm pretty sure that Eoin (Seahusky) had that motor on his 220 OP and should be able to answer most anything you need to know... Are you saying that the 200XB won't make full HP on 87?

Hey seadawg.

From what I have read the 200 detunes to a 175 on 87. Was looking to see what others were doing with this set up. The 9.9 wants 87 and the 200 wants 89. Mine are plumbed from the same tank. Just looking for opinions.

Fortunately for me the local Cenex has 87 nonethenol, Masco has 92, I rotate between the two, usually filling when my tank hits 1/2, that way I'm averaging 89 which my main likes. I am going to try and run the 92 more but its in Bremerton which is usually the opposite way Im headed. The main really likes 92!
