Making it mine

Unread post by jleveque » Fri Nov 22, 2019 10:29 pm

Got a 2014 180 Pro v ET a couple months ago. I now have a winter project. I just install WPS suspension bases, Cant wait to field test those.I plan on installing a Minn kota on the bow as well as many other things. Was going to mount the two batteries up front under the walk thru but also considering under the floor midship. Any advice? Also i was reading here about courtesy lights. The boat didn't come with them but it has the switch. Are the wires installed @ factory and in a loom that I can't find yet?

I also was looking at pictures of some waterlogged foam. Think i will pull the floor and check that out.

Welcome aboard and nice boat! 8-)

Doubt you'll have anything to worry about with foam in a 2014 boat but won't hurt to check.

You'll probably be limited to adding batteries under walk thru or at transom as the fuel tank runs down center beneath the floor. You'll see this if you pull flooring.

As to courtesy lights, yes, the harness is pre-rigged you'll just need to dig around to find where they're coiled. Check behind any access panel on the starboard side or under dash. Although our ProV is older and a non-ET, the courtesy light wires were coiled behind the starboard rear access panel, and like yours, the switch was already in place.

Yes the courtesy light has a butt wire splice(and is labeled). I found mine under the gunnel where it transitions to the transom. If you pull the wires carefully in this area. The ones labeled for the courtesy lights will pop out.

Thanks for all the information. I pulled the seats and the front floorboard today. Foam was wet on the surface. I dug down with a screwdriver and it seams to be dry about an inch down.

Yeah looking on the internet on the waterlogged foam nearly caused me loss of sleep.

I'm letting it dry for a few days then I'll pull the rest of the floor to check the back foam. It was kind of weird, there was water and a few spots with some kind of clear jelly looking stuff. Any ideas what that could be?

The clear jelly is usually a sign of electrolysis.

I installed a couple VMAX MR137-120 12V 120AH AGM Group 31 batteries under my walk thru. You aren't going to get anything bigger to fit without magic:
