Weekend

Unread post by SilverFox »

Snuck away with my bride of 41yrs for a couple days fishing at our favorite place. When we tried to go last month Mother Nature decided to dump 8" of snow but not this weekend.

We had a leisurely breakfast and launched about 10ish. Decided to fish a section I haven't been to in 4 or 5yrs. Hooked up after about 30 - 45mins but it was a native so back it went. It was a long troll before we connected again, this time I hooked a nice 19" clipped 'bow, was surprised as it was deeply colored, beautiful in the morning sun.

Was pretty slow, but my wife finally hooked up with a fat triploid that, at 16.5", weighed almost as much the 19-incher!

High noon, clear skies, pretty day, slow fishing so crossed over to other shore and just kept trolling towards the launch. Found a pocket that produced 4 almost back to back, another 16 - 16 1/2" triploid, 2 with the extra fin and one came unbuttoned before it got to the net.

We decided to call it about mid-afternoon and headed back.

Started early yesterday, hit two within 20mins, Debbie with a nice 17" clipped 'bow but mine, a real dandy that was easily 3lbs, and also an intact adipose.

Then it died, and although we persevered, we only had a single bump, but not another hookup. Saturday's conditions were so nice we only used heat a total of 30mins, at times the greenhouse effect had cabin temperature up to 71°! Yesterday was just the opposite, cold, overcast and with a light breeze, the heater stayed on the whole time.

Nice fish siverfox. Was a little disappointed after last weekend. Your report has renewed my enthusiasm. Most likely would have been out there this last weekend unfortunately I had other obligations. Only the second weekend I’ve missed since taking delivery. Oh wait 3rd but the boat was in the shop. Glad to hear you had a good weekend. Here’s to many more.

Are these pinks? I’m new to the area and pulled out my fish ID sheet to attempt an ID. Also didn’t know what a triploid was but did some reading and do now.

Ha I’m used to catching rainbows in a steam in Missouri and they are very colorful. Thanks for the info. Where were you if you don’t mind saying?

Wasn't me, it was Phil, he was fishing a lake on the eastside somewhere, not sure which one. Lot's of fisheries here in Wa. St. depending on where your located. Fishing paradise.
