Prop selection 220 ocean pro

Unread post by Fishingnut »

Well guys , got the new 220 OP home. It’s awesome.
Just one thing I am not sure about. I have a f200 Yamaha
on the back. Got her broke in in the last week and WOT is only 5400 with 3/4 full of fuel and two people. Prop is a 15 1/4 x 15 pitch aluminum. Not a great whole shot either. Was wondering what prop you 220 ocean pro guys are running with the 200 Yamaha? Would like to see a better whole shot. And 5800 to 6000 rpm. Was thinking of going to a13 pitch. Thanks in advance.

Yup. Same setup. Been researching this for awhile. Seems to be an underserved market. Find something I think might work and it’s for the 4&1/4 gearcase. One suggested a 14.5x15 Yamaha sds. I haven’t found one online yet and think it may be stainless. That’s about as close as I’ve found to fit the 4&3/4. While researching I think I read something about the 4&1/4 would work on the bigger one but not sure. Ordered a used 4x15x15 hoping to have a prop shop turn it down to like 14 or 13.5 diameter. They sent me a stainless 4x13x19 for the 3&1/4. Might try it and see what happens but it will most likely end up in the for sale section. My 15&1/4x15 hit 58-59k when it was new, empty and just me. Now it hits about 56 with just me. Tried a 4x14x17, same numbers as stock. Raised my motor up a hole. Same numbers. Good luck in your search. Let me know if you find something. I’ll do the same.

I actually tried a Reliance stainless steel prop 14 1/2 x15.
At my elevation 2880’ above sea level. Wot was 5600. Better whole shot than the previous mentioned. Should serve me well on the ocean. Will know in a month when we go salmon and halibut fishing.
