16' PE 260 purchased sight unseen!

Unread post by fastcatak »

Yep so I'm going so stir crazy that I purchased a 2016 Pacific Explorer 260 without ever seeing it. I'm sure many of you saw it listed for sale on Spokane craigslist, it was there a while slowly coming down in price until I made an offer he accepted. It is I believe the exact set up I want, head, half dinette, 2 forward facing suspension seats, f300 yami and 9.9ht. It's got 106 hours on it and looks perfect in the pictures. Time will tell. Now the waiting game, because of all these travel restrictions I have to have it shipped to Alaska and won't see it for a few weeks!
But thanks for all the info I've been reading on the posts, and any questions or suggestions are welcome. :D

Does it have a heater? If not, contact BK Marine Services and get a Planar 44. Congrats!

Only the factory installed stove / heater combo. Do these work okay?

The Wallas stove heater works well. They take very little energy to run, but the brief start up energy is higher and because of this it takes a dedicated 12 volt source. Also need to follow start up procedures. I had one on a boat for a number of years with no problems.

Dedicated 12V source? Is that just the house batteries?

Dedicated means no other loads on the wiring that goes to the heater. House battery would be preferable. If the stove works well I assume it is wired okay, but I would check it. I know of other owner installed stoves that had start up problems and were easily fixed by placing stove on a dedicated circuit.

Congratulations. I looked at that boat many, many times online. Looked immaculate. Last I saw price was getting pretty reasonable. Almost enough so to justify trading in the 300 on the 425. Enjoy.

Hey Nate stop it! Lol
I was wrestling with the idea of trading that 300 for a bigger single or twin 200 or 250, but ultimately decided to just enjoy the boat the way it is and save $40k on swapping motors.
Also been trying to decide whether to keep the 9.9 kicker or go to a 25 yami?
